Ladies, we're all generally concerned about our health and and well being, right? Then how come so many of us keep putting off those appointments we really need to make and commit to?
Recently, a friend was telling me about a speech he was making in regards to men's health. It got me thinking about how important checkups, physicals, and shots are. So ladies, go and get tested in every way possible - make sure you're as healthy as you can be.
I can't stress the importance of finding a doctor who you are comfortable with. Just recently I was talking to someone about how her doctor shoots her glances every time she asks for a the pill. This irks me. Find a doctor who can put their judgments aside, and who will really care for your well being.
I've been lucky enough to find a GP I can talk to about everything with. She's caring, understanding, and wants what's best for her patients. I can visit her with all of my questions or concerns and she doesn't look at me funny; she just wants to help.
So please, please, please take care of your bodies, ladies. We take so much time caring for our outside appearance, but if there's a problem inside it can turn your life upside down.

Youtube and Success Class
Do you know why I love my Philosophy of Success class? Because I can use my favourite Youtube videos in my assignments.
"I'll tell you the worst of me, and try to give you the best of me, because you don't deserve any less."
Reflections of a Skyline is a painfully honest short film about love. Watch it and try not to tear up.

Paper Route/JT Daly
Some of you might know Paper Route is one of my favourite bands. Check them out (good bus music). I found out about them when they were opening for Paramore - I was in awe the second they started playing. It stirs a lot of emotion and you can tell how passionate they are about their music.

JT Daly, one of the band's singers announced via Facebook discussion board that the other vocalist, Andy Smith is leaving the band, fortunately there is no bad blood. This got me Googling and I foundout JT is a wonderful artist. He lives, and breathes creativity (click here to see it). His pieces and ideas really shape the music the band produces.
I just find this so interesting because these images are almost exactly the things I've imagined or felt while listening to their music. Listeners can picture everything JT and the band wanted them to take from their music.

JT also announced the band is working on a new album - if this art is a reflection of what's to come, I can't wait!

This makes me smile:
If you haven't listened to Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros' song Home, do it NOW.
“Jade?”
“Alexander?”
“Do you remember that day you fell out of my window?”
“I sure do, you came jumping out after me.”
“Well, you fell on the concrete and nearly broke your ass and you were bleeding all over the place and I rushed you off to the hospital. Do you remember that?”
“Yes, I do.”
“Well, there’s something I never told you about that night.”
“What didn’t you tell me?”
“While you were sitting in the backseat smoking a cigarette you thought was going to be your last, I was falling deep, deeply in love with you and I never told you ‘til just now.”
“Now I know.”

Well, this is awkward.
There must be something in the air that's making really random people talk to me on Facebook chat. Grade 7 "boyfriends" and people I barely knew in high school. Strange.
POP!
That is all.

Judging/Wicked/Happy
Today was one of those days that was more eventful than a whole week. It's one that I want to remember.
Part One: Dear Starbucks barista, when I order my non-fat, grand hazelnut latte don't mutter "Ugh damn hipsters" too loud. It makes you look really rude.
Part T
wo: It was raining a so I decided to pick up an umbrella. Cute umbrella? Yes. Piece of crap? Oh yeah! After a good struggle to open the umbrella and having countless nice and respectable men walk by smirking at my dilemma, the one person to ask if I needed help was a homeless man. He opened it with ease and chuckled as he handed it back to me, and then wished me a great day. It got me thinking - I really need to stop judging people. All of those nice looking, well dressed people walked past with no intention of helping someone in need, I know, it was just an umbrella. But you get what I'm saying. Sometimes it takes people you always looks past to really open your eyes and change your perspective.
Part Three: Today was my Grandpa's big 65th birthday; hello Canadian pension plan! The family got together for a big brunch and then we were all surprised with our early Christmas gifts - tickets to the musical, Wicked. Simply put the show was incredible. The music was chilling, beautiful costumes, and outstanding sets. If you haven't seen it I suggest getting tickets before it leaves Toronto.

Part Four: After an impulse coat purchase - it's really cute so whatever - I am officially broke, but I can genuinely say I am really happy right now. I think I needed to spend some time with family and get my head on straight again. For now I'm stress free and okay with having a non-existent bank balance!

PET PEEVES
I'm not trying to sound like I'm complaining, well, maybe a little bit, but there are a couple things that have been irking me the wrong way lately. So listen up!
1. STOP telling me I should grow my hair out.
Seriously people, the way I cut and style my hair is up to me and I really don't care to hear what you have to say about it. I know, I know, I don't have the typical long, flowing, feminine locks that women "should" have but that's MY choice. Don't sit there and tell me I'd look prettier with long hair, and that it would help me land a boyfriend, because guess what?! If you're saying that to me - particularly if you're a guy - you're not exactly the type I'd like to attract!
2. Bus folk that don't move when you say excuse me.
Why is it people are so lazy they can't even move when someone politely asks them to step out of the way so they can get off in time and not miss their stop? It's common courtesy and apparently plenty of TTC riders are lacking it. If I'm sitting beside you and I ask you to move and you don't, don't be surprised when my purse hits you in the head as I go by.
Okay, I'm all pet peeved out.

Oh, nostalgia!
Remember those amazing little memories from your childhood? It could be the smell of a room or the sound of an old car. Well last night as I was hanging out with my dad and grandparents I was able to relive one of my favourite memories growing up. Scratch tickets, a sports bar, potato skins, and Pat Benatar playing in the background. Classy, eh?
Growing up we would go to a convenience store, pick up a couple scratch bingo tickets and go to TKO's, a sports bar around Danforth and Coxwell. We'd split some potato skins and catch up. After doing this again, by the end of the night I realized how much I missed little things like this. Going back and redoing your favourite thing as a child is a really good feeling, and you look at it with the new perspective you've gained over the years.
Everyone should go out and do something they loved doing as a child, whether it be a game of cops and robbers or a trip to a park, do something you used to love with people you care about.

Quarter life crisis
I've been a little bored lately, kind of a 'down in the dumps' feeling. Rather than sulking I've decided to turn things around for the better. I'm going to keep pushing myself to try new things, and each time I do I'm going to write a post about my experience! It'll help me narrow down what I'm interested, find new hobbies, and just explore the city and different things around me.
Stay posted - If you want to try something too, leave a comment and we'll do something crazy!

We all have one, you know, a bus playlist. It's a handful of songs you can listen to on repeat and just stare out the window to(or at the clock on your phone because you're running late).
We all have our own list, and here are mine:
Paper Route's "Carousel" - Paper Route is a high energy band with a lot of bass (great for the caffeine free mornings). It leaves you with this epic "I can do whatever I want because I'm a total badass" feeling. Listen to the band, you'll fall in love.
Ida Maria's "I Like You So Much Better When You're Naked" - You know that guy who just dumped you? Well, forget about him and listen to this song. Covering why we, girls, do all those silly little things for guys when we actually like them so much better with their clothes off. It's a feel good song, and you'll look like that weird kid on the bus who's singing along.
The Dandy Warhols' "Bohemian Like You" - Classic classic classic. I think I love this song because I picture Kieran Culkin running down the street towards me (Igby Goes Down reference, har har). But seriously, you can't help but sing along, it's the perfect bus soundtrack song and leaves you feeling good when you get off to go to school.
Check out the songs, what do you listen to?
Enjoy!
